Construction is underway on a building on the John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter that will create new jobs, accommodate more ¼ø»Æʦapp in the STEM fields, and increase opportunities for funded research. Thanks to a generous $35 million investment from the state — the largest public investment in a research facility in university history — the ¼ø»Æʦapp Neuroscience Building will add 58,000 square feet of critically needed laboratory space to accommodate our rapid growth in Jupiter.

The building will house the ¼ø»Æʦapp Brain Institute and allow for expansion of collaborative research in neuroscience and other STEM areas — especially with our partners Scripps Florida and the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience. ¼ø»Æʦapp Jupiter is the only place on Earth where Max Planck and Scripps — the top two biomedical research institutes in the world — are co-located. This provides unparalleled educational opportunities for our ¼ø»Æʦapp to learn from, and conduct research alongside, some of the most brilliant scientists in the world.

I am so excited about the possibilities this facility presents. Not only will it allow ¼ø»Æʦapp to make an immediate economic impact on our region; it also will launch the Jupiter campus into the future as a hub of scientific research and STEM education that will rival the best in the world. Better diagnoses — and treatments — for devastating brain disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, autism, and more are within reach, and I am confident that ¼ø»Æʦapp Jupiter researchers will be part of these important discoveries.
