Plan of Study and Courses: Capstone Project Requirement

The capstone project is an integral feature of the doctoral training experience—and it is aimed at preparing graduates of the program for empirically and theoretically-informed leadership roles in advanced clinical practice, clinical supervision, social work education, and practice-oriented research and evaluation. Capstones are projects that have tangible implications for social work practice and serve as an opportunity for the doctoral ¼ø»Æʦapp to showcase their content expertise and technical skills. Students will have the opportunity to pick between three capstone options (research-focused, practice-focused, or education-focused), depending on their area of interest and career goals. Please note that while the research-focused capstone will most closely resemble a traditional thesis, all capstone projects will require research skills and application. Regardless of which option is selected, the Capstone timeline is the same for all ¼ø»Æʦapp and extends across three courses: (1) Capstone Proposal, (2) Capstone Implementation, and (3) Capstone Dissemination.
