¼ø»ÆÊ¦app's six campuses showcase 110 coastal miles of diverse South Florida at its best. ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app was founded in 1961, in Boca Raton on an 850-acre site located near the Atlantic Ocean. The Boca Raton Campus is conveniently located halfway between Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale and offers a broad range of academic programs, activities, and services. The Boca Raton campus is home to ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app's Division I Intercollegiate Athletics program and facilities. The ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app Davie Campus has served ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app since 1990 working in close partnership with Broward College and other educational institutions. The ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app Davie Campus creates a supportive learning environment with particular sensitivity to ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app of nontraditional ages and culturally diverse backgrounds. It also hosts the base of operations for ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app's Everglades research and restoration efforts. Located in Jupiter's Abacoa community, ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app's John D. MacArthur Campus opened in the fall of 1999. The campus presently enrolls more than 1,300 ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app and offers a wide variety of upper-division and graduate courses from five of the University's ten colleges. The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, a four-year residential liberal arts and sciences college for high achieving undergraduates, is located here. The campus is also the site of research facilities for both the ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, the Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute and Max Planck Florida Institutes. ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is located in Fort Pierce on the Atlantic Coast. As one of the nation's premier oceanographic centers, ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app Harbor Branch's research community of approximately 200 ocean scientists, staff and ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app drives innovation in: marine science and engineering; conservation of coral reefs, studies of marine mammals and fisheries; marine drug discovery; estuarine and coastal ecology and observation; ocean dynamics and modeling; aquaculture and marine science education.
¼ø»ÆÊ¦app Neuroscience ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app have access to state-of-the-art tools that explore the brain across multiple levels of analysis, from super-resolution microscopy that can illuminate the detailed organization of molecules and cells in the nervous system to automated screening systems to assess the behavioral impact of brain disease-causing mutations, to vivo physiological and to behavioral imaging platforms that can interrogate specialized areas of the thinking, human brain. NGP ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app also have access to research core facilities at the Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute’s Advanced Cell Imaging Core, and the Human Imaging Core on the ¼ø»ÆÊ¦app Boca Raton campus, as well as biomedical research facilities within the College of Engineering & Computer Science and the Colleges of Science and Medicine.
