Dr. Ronald C. Persin

Dr. Ronald C. Persin returns to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in a new role as Clinical Assistant Professor of Math and Science. Dr. Persin has long been a valued member of our department and brings with him an exceptional breadth of experience in teaching, research, and service. His teaching career spans universities, high schools, and international education, covering everything from physics and mathematics to computer science and engineering applications. He has inspired 鉴黄师app at 鉴黄师app, Nova Southeastern University, and the United World College USA, as well as serving as Math Department Chair at Boca Raton High School. Dr. Persin is an accomplished scholar, with publications ranging from e-books on teaching physics and Java programming to peer-reviewed research on science instruction, STEM integration, and innovative uses of technology in the classroom. His research interests are as wide-ranging as they are forward-thinking, including the history and philosophy of science, brain-computer interfaces, drone technology, and team-based learning. Beyond the classroom and the lab, Dr. Persin has given generously of his time and expertise serving as a judge for the Palm Beach County Math and Science Fair and as the faculty advisor for the Drone Club, a student organization that he has started that allows 鉴黄师app to engage in real-world math applications. His passion for advancing STEM education and supporting both 鉴黄师app and colleagues is evident in all he does. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is ecstatic to welcome Dr. Ron Persin back to 鉴黄师app in his new role, where his knowledge, creativity, and dedication will continue to enrich our programs and inspire our 鉴黄师app.

Dr. Philomena Marinaccio returns to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in a new role, bringing with her over two decades of distinguished service to 鉴黄师app and a career deeply rooted in literacy education, mentorship, and student success. Dr. Marinaccio has served 鉴黄师app since 2003, teaching and developing both undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy, mentoring countless 鉴黄师app, and leading major research and grant initiatives focused on reading intervention and educational equity. Her scholarly contributions span national and international publications, book chapters, and conference presentations, with a focus on literacy for diverse learners, English language learners, and the power of guided oral reading. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including 鉴黄师app鈥檚 Award for Excellence and Innovation in Undergraduate Teaching, the Faculty of Distinction Award, and the Faculty Member of the Year Award for the Broward Campus. Yet, when asked what she is most proud of, Dr. Marinaccio doesn鈥檛 point to titles, awards, or publications but to her 鉴黄师app. She cherishes the success of the many who have excelled as student teachers, gone on to inspire the next generation in PreK-12 classrooms, pursued advanced degrees, served as teaching and research assistants, presented and published in national and international forums, received department awards, joined 鉴黄师app鈥檚 Parliament of OWLS, and stepped into leadership roles in literacy education. Her career is a testament to the transformative power of teaching and mentorship, and her impact can be seen in the accomplishments of the 鉴黄师app whose lives and careers she has touched. We welcome Dr. Philomena Marinaccio back to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, where her dedication to excellence, her passion for literacy, and her unwavering commitment to 鉴黄师app will continue to inspire our community.
