Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction
Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) in Florida Atlantic’s College of Education (COE). The DCI is home to undergraduate and graduate degree programs. We prepare high-quality teachers and educational professionals (e.g., instructional designers). Our undergraduate, master’s, specialists, and doctoral programs offer ¼ø»Æʦapp several options leading to traditional careers in PK-12 schools or opportunities with education-related and non-profit organizations. Students interested in a traditional university experience will find a rich mix of campus life activities. Three master’s programs are offered entirely online as well as several graduate certificates that can be completed as part of a master’s degree for working professionals and advanced ¼ø»Æʦapp.
The Department offers many opportunities for ¼ø»Æʦapp to explore an array of topics through a host of disciplines. For example, ¼ø»Æʦapp interested in promoting literacy may be eligible for tuition support through the James Patterson Teacher Education Scholarship. There is also the STEM Education Laboratory for ¼ø»Æʦapp interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), where ¼ø»Æʦapp can learn about ways to improve STEM education.

In November 2025, Dr. Victoria Brown, with the support of Drs. David Kumar, Jillian Powers, and Ann Musgrove, hosted Robotics Day at ¼ø»Æʦapp.
On November 17, 2025, The Rho Omega Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi presented certificates, honor cords and KDP graduation regalia to participants.
¼ø»Æʦapp’s College of Education invites graduate ¼ø»Æʦapp to embark on a transformative Study Abroad experience in Ireland during Summer 2026.
We are pleased to highlight that several members of our faculty serve as editors and leaders of respected scholarly journals, contributing actively to the advancement of research in their fields.
Dr. Jillian Powers, Dr. David Kumar, and Dr. Victoria Brown have been awarded the Excellence in Distance Learning Teaching/Training Award at the Gold level (the highest honor in that category!) by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA).
