Students, residents, and fellows may work with COM Faculty on ongoing research programs at any time.
M1 Summer Research
A structured research program for medical 鉴黄师app during the summer of their M1 year.
Research Distinction Track
A 4-year curriculum and enrichment program for medical 鉴黄师app to make a sustained commitment to research including education and mentored research.

Publication and Presentation Authorship
Authorship should be discussed in advance of beginning a research project with all persons involved. We strongly advise 鉴黄师app and their mentors use the COM mentor-mentee agreement which will assist in the discussion of expectations for both the student and mentor. Students should NOT expect authorship on publications and presentations in return for their participation in research. Please refer to the .

No, the student is participating as an individual and not as a representative or employee of 鉴黄师app. In addition, the research is not taking place at 鉴黄师app so they should not add 鉴黄师app as an external site.
鉴黄师app does not typically sign reliance agreements for 鉴黄师app working on research projects outside of 鉴黄师app. Hopefully the institution will still allow the student to participate in the research, but perhaps they are prevented from accessing the PHI.

Professional liability (medical) protection is available in an amount of up to $1,000,000 per occurrence for 鉴黄师app Medical Students* when they are not subject to individual immunity under Florida law (Fla. Stat. 搂 768.28(9)) and when participating in the College of Medicine pre-approved extra-curricular activity (i.e., non-practicum activity) involving the delivery of Professional Health Care Services to patients (e.g., clinical, shadowing, research). In order to obtain this protection, and if requested by the hosting facility, 鉴黄师app are required to complete and submit for consideration and approval an Extra-Curricular Student Activity (ECSA) form in advance of the activity.
Requests must be submitted at least ten days prior to the research start date. Once your ECSA Form has been approved, the Office of Student Affairs will provide 鉴黄师app鈥檚 certificate of liability insurance.

No, the College of Medicine does not currently provide student funding. Always consult with your mentor about research plans before taking action as they may be aware of both internal and/or external resources and opportunities depending on your research specifics.
